Fever Take Control Early, Never Look Back

The Indiana Fever delivered a commanding performance at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Sunday, defeating the Seattle Storm 89–78 in a 2026 WNBA regular season matchup. Indiana burst out of the gates with a 32–19 first-quarter lead and never relinquished control, outpacing Seattle in three of four quarters.

Caitlin Clark Puts On a Masterclass

Star guard Caitlin Clark was the story of the night, recording a double-double with 21 points and 10 assists to go along with 7 rebounds — all while shooting a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line. Clark also added 2 blocks and knocked down 2-of-4 from beyond the arc, finishing with a game-high efficiency rating of 35.

Cunningham and Mitchell Provide Crucial Support

Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 17 points on 44% shooting, while Sophie Cunningham matched her with 17 points off the bench, shooting an impressive 100% on her two-point attempts. The Fever bench collectively contributed 30 points — a decisive factor in the final margin.

Storm Fall Flat in Shooting Performance

Seattle struggled badly from the field, converting just 35.2% of their attempts compared to Indiana's 46.3%. The Storm's biggest lead of the game was a mere 1 point, a stark contrast to Indiana's commanding 20-point advantage at its peak. Natisha Hiedeman led Seattle with 19 points, but it wasn't nearly enough to overcome the deficit.

Paint Dominance Tells the Story

Indiana dominated the interior, scoring 50 points in the paint compared to Seattle's 30. The Fever also converted all 22 of their free-throw attempts — a perfect night at the line that proved critical in putting the game out of reach.

What's Next

The Fever continue their strong early-season run and will host the Portland Fire on Thursday, May 21. The Storm, meanwhile, will look to regroup and find their footing as the 2026 season pushes forward.
